It looks like CBC's Zed has been given the axe. Sad.

Meanwhile, we're getting prepared for a Circlesquare show at Sonar in Barcelona, and an MTV shoot in New York City.

February, 2006

Zed is back on the air three nights a week on CBC television.

At 11:25 every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night, Zed airs fantastic short films, documentaries and music. Since 2001, Urban Visuals has provided visual support and design for this acclaimed CBC program.

November, 2005

Resfest just wrapped up it's first visit to Vancouver, with several sold out shows, a couple parties and lots of good short films. Urban Visuals co-produced the Vancouver event with Res Media Group. Program information can be found at www.resfest.ca

February, 2005

We've just returned from New York City, and a few days at the MTV studios in Times Square, where we created a projected set environment for the six hour Bonus Features Blowout special, which airs in the US mid February.

Urban Visuals' Nathan Whitford has designed lighting and projections for the Screaming Weenie production The Bacchae. It's an original adaptation written and composed by a number of local personalities.

Nathan's design was described as "very handsome" by Vancouver's weekly The Georgia Straight.

October, 2004
CBC's Zed received a nomination for an Advanced Media Technology Emmy Award for its live interactive Uncut episode.
With the help of Urban Visuals, the show allowed viewers to communicate with the hosts via webcam, and to switch camera angles on the television through controls on the website.

Urban Visuals' Nathan Whitford will be speaking at a Special Session roundtable at this years Siggraph Conference in Los Angeles on August 11, 2004.

VJ: The Art of Live Video Performance will discuss current and future trends in VJ culture.

Urban Visuals was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 18th Annual Gemini Awards for our work on the "water" episode of Zed! Check it out!

Zed is off the air for the summer but, starting October 5, 2004, it will be broadcast across Canada every weeknight at 11:25pm on CBC Television.
